Does peace really exist?

The first thing that comes into my head when I hear the word peace is that we truly need it in our world. It is extremely heartbreaking to see that the city that most needs it, is right across our border. People have already lost the sympathy of killing human beings. We see in the news that in Mexico women and children are being raped, tortured, hanged, or decapitated. It is devastating to know that kids are carrying and using weapons to kill people each day as a job to get paid. Females were used to be known as something warm and caring, now they are the ones in charge of major drug cartels in Mexico.  People that live in Mexico and do not have papers to come to the United States are frustrated because their families are in danger and they can not find peace in themselves. They do not have normal lives like we do, they are scared to go to places and they are home by a certain time to be safe; they are screaming for help but yet no one can hear them. My family and I used to go to Juarez often to visit our family but now we think twice about going, and when we do we lock the doors and pray that nothing will happen to us. It is sick to know what our world has turned into. That is just one of the preposterous things that are happening in the world. How ironic that for most of us, the five letter word “peace” is just an imaginary perfect world that doesn’t exist.

  1. I completely agree with your post. Times have changed around us. I remember when I could go around Juarez and not worry about myself, but now I don't even dare drive near the border. How sad it is now, but hopefuly thing will get better sonner rather than later.

  2. I understand what you feel when you go to Juarez, I also think two or maybe three times before going to visit my sister. I think things will get worse, everyone knows someone that had died in Juarez because of the violence. The only thing we can do is stay away from the border.

  3. I agree in how people have new jobs. killing people for money is one of the highest paying job that mexico has. people how kill others are leaving better than the ones that have a good job. I can understand how people from Juarez feel about going to a place that used to be their home. I used to live in a border town not far from here. I remember I could go out in the night and have fun with my friends without having to worry about the violence.

  4. I completely agree with how you feel. I to have family that we used to visit all the time in Juarez, even every week at times, and now its heartbreaking to know that we cant see them as much. It is sad to see how things are in a place that we can see just by looking across the freeway! Who knows when things will get better or if there will ever be peace in Juarez.

  5. This what extravagent. I totally agree with all of this, espcially when you said that the city that needs peace most is right across from us. I believe peace will come one day and everything will work out. I've never visited in Juarez but lets just keep praying and things will work out.

  6. I agree with your post and everyone's opinons as well. How can we as El Paso residents expect to see peace in our world when we can't even see peace just across the highway. One thing that I do know is something I read in another classmates blog, it was that peace begins from within the person and the hope and strive to make their homes a better place. It seems like the violence and cruelty will never end in Juarez but we must keep up our prayers and hopes that peace will come to Mexico and help them escape this horrible battle they must fight.

  7. I myself missing going to Juarez. things have changed so much and people don't realize how bad it is over there and how many people are constantly dying due to the cartels and an increase in criminal activity other than the cartels. many women have been raped and murdered and nothing has been done to stop that. i hope something better than peace happens in Mexico because the people shouldn't have to live in constant fear. Sadly their government who should solve the problem is corrupt.

  9. I agree with you when you say that we really need peace in our world. It is something that will really solve a lot of problems and uprisings that we have going on today. And your right, there are other places that could really use peace because they are struggling so much right now.

  10. I agree when you say we need peace in the world, unfortunately Juarez is not the only place going through a struggle like this one. In times like these we need to come together and help but have no where to begin from. Many of our loved ones live there and its sad to see such a horrific tragety go on, right across from us. We just need to have faith in God and find peace within ourselves before we can help others find it.
